marble, seems to originate from a mutation of the word Marmara. Therefore, Turkey's traditions in this sector, in addition to those of first manual sawing, that are archeologically documented, are
long standing. What is more, the great works of classical antiquity and of the imperial era, clearly highlight the role that marble and stone have played in the Ottoman art and architecture.
